UX audits
At a glance
What are UX audits?
A UX audit highlights usability issues, friction points, and opportunities for improvement—helping you align business goals with customer needs.
I'll assess:
- How a typical user navigates your product
- How well your product aligns with usability heuristics and human-centred design principles
- Where (and why) users might be getting stuck
By evaluating your product from an external, unbiased perspective, I’ll provide actionable insights to help you create a smoother, more intuitive experience for your customers.
Why would you need a UX audit?
Maybe you’ve noticed that conversions are lower than projected. Or that customer feedback is slowly edging towards negative. Perhaps, your customer support team is overwhelmed. Usability issues could be the culprit.
Even small usability changes can make a big impact. A UX audit uncovers friction points, helping you create a smoother experience for customers, lighten the load on staff, and ultimately boost revenue.
Think of a UX audit as a low-risk investment with lasting value. It’s a one-time cost that gives you clarity on what’s working, what’s not, and why. With the audit, you’ll have a clear roadmap to guide your next steps. While some recommendations may take longer to implement, there are always quick wins you can apply for immediate results.

What you'll get

You'll receive a detailed, easy-to-digest report outlining the usability of your product—the strengths, the pain points, and the opportunities for improvement.
Your report will cover:
- How your product aligns with usability best practices
- Detailed descriptions of usability issues
- Evidence-backed recommendations for fixes, including quick wins
- A review of how customer expectations align with your business goals
- An assessment of how your product performs across different browsers and devices
I also provide consulting support to help you plan and prioritise your next steps, ensuring the insights turn into meaningful improvements.
A note on accessibility
Accessibility is a key part of usability, so your UX audit will include some accessibility insights. However, a full accessibility audit isn’t included as standard.
If you’d like a deeper understanding of how your product works for all users—regardless of their needs—let me know, and I can provide a more comprehensive accessibility review.
What's the process?
Step one: understanding your product
First, I’ll aim understand your product deeply - what your goals are, what your users need, and where any challenges lie. I’ll gather insights from you, including site analytics, customer feedback, and anecdotes, to build a full picture of your product and business.
Step two: evaluation and report writing
Next, I’ll explore your product as a ‘mystery shopper,’ testing key customer journeys to identify friction points. I’ll assess each step using human-centred design principles, comparing my findings against industry best practices, analytics, and customer feedback. All insights will be compiled into a clear, structured report.

Step three: Delivering your report
Once the report is ready, I’ll send it over. If you prefer to talk through the findings, we can set up a call to discuss insights and next steps.
Step four: Taking action
With your UX audit in hand, you’ll have the insights needed to improve your product. If you need help prioritising changes or planning your roadmap, I’ll provide consulting support.
